At Dunstan High School, nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of your children.
Kia ora whānau,
At Dunstan, we are committed to the safety of all our students. As part of this commitment, we have been working closely with NZ Police and our local policing team. Recently, there has been an increase in students travelling to and from school either in a dangerous manner or outside the legal requirements designed to keep them safe.
Dunstan High School will inform the Police if we become aware of students carrying passengers while on a Restricted or Learner licence, or if we identify students driving in a dangerous manner. We are taking this approach because we want all our learners to be safe. While this focus is on students and their transport, these behaviours also place others at risk.
We would also like to remind students travelling by bicycle that they are required by law to wear a helmet at all times.
If you would like to discuss your child’s travel to and from school further, please feel free to contact a member of our Senior Leadership Team.
