Dunstan High School is proud to offer a variety of Homestay options carefully selected to suit you. We have experienced families who have been hosting students for many years. We also welcome new families who can provide support for specific activities such as BMX, Kayaking, skiing or Rowing. You not only get to experience life as a Kiwi student, you will be welcomed into our community.
As an International Student at Dunstan High School, we ensure that you have a caring environment which will help you to adjust to life in a new country. All International students live with host families - either within our small rural town or on small lifestyle blocks with access to horse riding, farm animals and rural activities. The daily bus ride and sports or cultural activities will help you settle into school life more easily. Your host family will encourage you to improve your English skills and will be interested in your welfare and academic progress, and will be in regular contact with the school. You will be included as a valued member of your host family, their extended whānau and the community. Homestay families enjoy showing their International Students parts of the lower South Island on weekends and holidays.
All of our homestay families have been carefully selected, are regularly monitored, and are subject to police checks, which is a requirement of the New Zealand law.
