Martin Cup Report

To start off the tournament we played Waitaki Girls High School we lost the toss and Waitaki girls decided to bowl first. We ended up making 194 runs after 20 overs and that was innings. swapping over to bowl we defended our total that we got and Waitaki girls only managed to get 145 runs.

Game 2 we played Otago Combined Districts XI, we won the toss and chose to bat.  Batting out all 20 overs, getting the total amount of 146 runs, which we thought was very good. Moving into the next innings where we were bowling, we managed to hold back Otago Combined Districts for 17.3 overs until they scored the last run they needed to win the game.

Game 3 we played Southland Secondary School Girls, we knew we had to win this game as this is what would bring us to the final. Southland one the toss and elected to bat, which was good for us as we didn't want to be fielding in the heat first up. We managed to bowl all of southland out and only going to 17.2 overs, southland ended up getting 125 runs. Going into bat we did very well and only had to bat for 16.5 overs winning the game with 126 runs, making it into the final.

The final, this game we really wanted to win as we were playing Southland again so we knew we had a good chance. Winning the toss we decided we wanted to bowl. We bowled pretty well and kept Southland down to 140 runs. The batting was very tight coming down to the last batter. We needed 4 runs to win in the last over, sadly the bowler that was bowling was very good and we couldn't hit the ball and ended up losing by 2 runs.
