Following a recent incident, Go Bus are taking this opportunity to highlight current hazards at our stops.
While Go Bus conduct regular Safe Stopping Assessments, environments change—new developments, roadworks, and increased traffic can turn a once-safe stop into a high-risk area.
To keep our students safe, we need parents and students to partner with our drivers by following these essential guidelines:
For Students: Staying Alert
Wait for the Full Stop: Never approach the bus until it has come to a complete standstill. Avoid crowding the door while the bus is still moving.
Keep Eyes on the Bus: Do not turn your back to the bus until it has fully departed the stop.
Cross Safely: Never cross the road in front of a school bus. Always wait until the bus has moved away so you have a clear line of sight in both directions.
For Parents: Leading by Example
Wait on the "Bus Side": Please meet your child on the same side of the road where the bus stops. Students may dash across the road without looking.
Park Clearly: Ensure your vehicle is not encroaching on the space required for the bus to pull in and out safely.
Safety First: Avoid loading cars from the roadside in confined spaces or busy stop areas. Remember, children will follow your actions—stay well back from the curb until the bus departs.
