THE ARTS at Dunstan 2026

Dunstanza Choir began rehearsals Tuesday 10th February in the school hall. It was amazing to see approximately 40 enthusiastic keen as students rock on up. Some very exciting times ahead for the choir. Rehearsal will continue every Tuesday after school until June, where they will perform at the Big Sing, a national competition held NZ wide regionally. This will take place on the 8th June at the prestigious Town Hall in Dunedin. The choir is very fortunate to have a wealth of talent to guide students - huge thanks to Libby Hamilton, Bronwyn Barnes and Nick Meissel.

Senior drama students will travel to Dunedin on Friday 6th March to watch a performance of The Fox at the Globe Theatre. Ex Dunstan drama student Caitlyn Gordon will be performing one of the leads.

Ugly Shakespeare is coming back!

Ugly has been revamped and now has a new fresh approach, they will be making an apperance at Dunstan as part of the whole school cultural experience on March 19th. They will also be taking two workshops for senior drama students.

Showquest 2026

Showquest is back, this is going to be held at the Civic Theatre in Invercargill Friday 22nd May. Choreographers are Lucy Anderson and Heidi Winter, still not too late to join in, contact the leaders in the next day or two to be a part of this exciting dance performance coming in May. 

Annie – DHS 2026 Production

Daddy Warbucks, Miss Hannigan, Rooster are back!!! Some of your favourite characters from the musical Annie! Dunstan has been given approval to stage this wonderful musical at the Alexandra Memorial Theatre in late August - keep an eye out for audition times a wee bit later on!

Kapa haka is full steam ahead and have a busy exciting year ahead of them, with festival performances in various towns around the region including Dunedin, Invercargill, Queenstown and Cromwell. Participation numbers are around 40 students.
