Former Dunstan Student Inspires Future Musicians

On Thursday 16th October junior and senior students at Dunstan High School enjoyed an engaging and inspiring visit from former DHS student, Matt Brooks, a full-time musician based in Melbourne.

Matt shared his journey into the music industry, offering valuable insights into turning a passion into a profession. He spoke openly about the realities of life as a musician and the creative process behind his work, and gave practical production tips.

A key message throughout his talk was the importance of knowing your purpose and doing what you love - something many students could relate to.

Matt also stressed the need to put in the hard graft, something applicable to all areas of life, to reach success, even when the work feels repetitive or boring.

Students also had the chance to share songs they were working on, receive feedback, ask questions, and gain performance tips from someone who’s successfully built a music career.

Thank you to Matt for generously giving his time and sharing his experience.

You’re an absolute legend!
