Strike Action by PPTA 15-19 September
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Strikes by PPTA during the week of 15 -19 September
The Post Primary Teachers’ Association (the union) has informed us about the impact of its strikes, as they affect our school, during the week 15 – 19 September 2025 (Week 10 of Term 3).
The union have advised our board that its member teachers will refuse to teach certain year groups during Term 3, Week 10.
The union refer to this as "rostering home", but while it is lawful for the union to take strike action in which they refuse to teach certain year levels on a given day, it is for our school board to decide what arrangements will be put in place for the affected students.
It is not lawful for a school board to partially close the school. Accordingly, students should continue to come to school as usual.
Our board has decided on the following arrangements for students during the strike action:
Monday 15th September: Teacher Only Day – no students at school
Tuesday 16th September: Year 11 students learn from home – all other year levels attend school as normal
Wednesday 17th September: Year 10 students learn from home – all other year levels attend school as normal
Thursday 18th September: Year 9 students learn from home – all other year levels attend school as normal
Friday 19th September - All year levels will attend school as usual.
All students not listed to learn from home on the days above are expected to attend school for normal classes.
Thank you for your understanding. Please contact [email protected] if you have any queries relating to the impact the industrial actions noted above.
Ngā mihi
