This year so far we have put 16 senior students through the two day STAR Barista course held at Otago Polytechnic’s Cromwell Campus.

We have one more course scheduled for October in which another eight lucky students will get the opportunity to attend. The course costs the students $50 each and we cover the final ($200). Students first learn the theory behind barista coffee making and then the practical skills needed to create barista coffee masterpieces. All students who complete the course gain 8 credits and a certificate to add to their CV for future employment opportunities. Many of our students have gone on to use this qualification to gain part-time work in cafes and restaurants.
