This year I have been on Gateway Work Placement at Martin O'Connor Auto Services at 4 Ngapara Street.

I approached Martin O’Connor for my work placement because I liked the idea of becoming a heavy diesel mechanic and Martin O'Connor has a heavy diesel side to his business.

I have learnt a good range of beginner jobs, for example: how to change a wheel bearing, how to do a basic service, replace bushes and how to replace a tyre on a wheel.

Overall I have enjoyed all the things I have been given to do at work experience (some things more than others!) but have still found every day interesting and fun. 

I would recommend Gateway to anyone, because going out on work placement is a lot of fun, especially learning new things and deciding whether you would definitely like to get in to that pathway
