I'm Madeline, a Year 13 student who is studying Gateway this year. Gateway has allowed me to be on a work placement at Ranui Court Retirement Village one day each week.

Being on a placement has allowed me to learn about communication, especially how important body language is. I have also learnt about the rights of the residents and how to provide the best support to our elderly. I have enjoyed the opportunity to see how aged care will fit into my career plans and next year I am going to study Employment Pathways and Nursing at SIT in Invercargill.
