My name is Hayvin O'Neill, and I am a Year 12 student. I study Gateway and Primary Industry Science as two of my school subjects.

Through these subjects, I complete work experience one day a week. My work experience takes place on Earnscleugh Station, where I work alongside lots of people, including Tom Ballantine who is the Farm Manager. During my time on placement, I have learnt how to drench sheep and cattle, I have learnt about feed and stock management, and I have learnt about how farming changes during the seasons. I have really enjoyed my placement, and it has helped me see that I am keen to work on a farm when I leave school. I enjoy almost everything I do, especially when I'm moving livestock or driving around the farm. I recommend taking Gateway as a subject to anyone that is interested in leaving school and trying to figure out a job for their future.
