Tane O'Neill has done his family, the community, his region and Dunstan High School proud for being selected for the New Zealand Under 15 Developing Sox Softball team.
Over the recent school holidays Tane headed to Australia to play in a seven game tour against Australian teams. The New Zealand team faced Queensland and New South Wales. The NZ team lost the first game, drew the second, and won the remaining games, making the experience intense and enjoyable as they improved. Tane is an exceptional softball player and it's absolutely incredible to see him selected for a NZ team. Softball is something he has always been around as a young boy with just about every family member playing. He started at the age of 4 and has gone from strength to strength as the years have gone on. In the Alexandra competition you might likely see him pitching, but in the NZU15 team he secured second base as his main position.

Tane said “It was pretty special getting selected and named for this team. I’d like to acknowledge all the hard work my parents have also put in to help me get there. The support from Central Otago softball Association my club and Demons Southland Club where I get to keep learning and growing with opportunities. I love the tournament experience, playing with other players from all round NZ who are also good mates that I've made along the way with other tournaments.
I am just really grateful to have the opportunities to succeed."
