Souths Wrap Up

Dunstan had 22 students who competed at the South Island Mountain Bike Champs at Mount Hutt last week.

About half of them raced the cross-country on the Wednesday with Ryker Thow getting 4th and Eli Moir 8th in the U16 boys.

Next was two days of downhill racing and with most of the team racing on the Friday after a good 10mm of rain the previous day this made conditions very slippery and muddy with lots of crashes.

Maddy Mannix and Greer Bennett both crashed in their race runs with Maddy suffering concussion and Greer a sprained wrist.   Lochy Anderson, Samuel Palfrey and Tave Paulin all suffered crashes and leg injuries with Lochy and Tave not competing the next day.

The best time for Dunstan was put down by Cam Moir with a three minute 55 second run to put him in 11th in the U20 boys, with Ryker Thow claiming 3rd in the U16 boys.

The last event on the Saturday was the Enduro with Jack Sole riding very well to gain 3rd in the U20 boys and Ryker picking up another podium with 3rd in the U16 boys.

Dunstan had eight students competing for the first time and was the 12th best school in the South Island. A big thanks to Mr Adams for coming along last week and supporting mountain biking over the years.

Overall, Ryker Thow was 2nd in the South Island and Jack Sole was 5th overall, with Cam Moir close behind in 8th and Eli Moir in 9th.
