James Whyte Visits Dunstan

On Wednesday, 26th March we had an ex-student come and speak to some of the Digital Technology students.

James Whyte, has had an extensive journey throughout the past 40 years, working in the Technology industry around the world. He has lived in eight countries.

James talked about PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) as more than an ‘engineering thing’, it is a business thing where engineering and manufacturing play vital roles. From discussing companies such as BMW to Boeing, and explaining how technologies used in companies are documented in a roadmap spanning quick wins, pragmatic tests and longer-term strategic imperatives.  People are engaged throughout ensuring they understand how they contribute to “moving the needle.”

James also touched on the importance of sport and play and how essential it is for the wellbeing of any mind. James sustained an horrific accident last year, but due to his fitness he is quickly recovering. He also talked about setting goals, which aligned nicely with our Goal Setting Student Led Conferences which were held last week.
